Known for their low and zero drop shoes, the Topo Athletics Zephyr has a new midsole combination of EVA and TPU. The shoe quickly became a favourite with testers.
A great choice for those wishing to dip their toe in the natural running shoe world. This shoe actually has a 5mm drop so not a true natural shoe. The Zephyr has pebax in the midsole which is really bouncy and propulsive. You will enjoy training in this shoe and you could certainly use it for long distance racing.
Known for their low and zero drop shoes, this model comes in with a 5mm heel-to-toe difference. Along with the slightly more familiar drop for many runners and a new combination of EVA and TPU midsole construction, the shoe quickly became a favourite with testers.
If you wish to experience zero drop from heel to toe, look toward the well-cushioned Magnify 3 model.
The outer shell of the midsole uses EVA and provides a stable base for an insert of TPU cushioning. Sandwiched between the two is a Pebax plate running from the heel to forefoot. This plate creates a stable platform but also has a slightly ‘propulsive’ effect. It’s not carbon, but it’s not aiming to be a record breaker. Here we have a stable, well cushioned shoe that’s durable enough for everyday use but light enough for faster paced running.
The upper has the brands broader toe-box, which allows the toes to splay, again adding to stability.
Rubber strategically placed aids durability in key wear areas.
You may not have heard of the brand previously, but they offer something a little different in their fit and each new model seams to improve on the last making them a brand to watch out for.
