Lightweight, performance shoe with enough cushioning for daily use. A great shoe.
The New Balance Vazee Pace is the second generation of this running shoe and it boasts an even faster feel and new 2-tone woven mesh overlays that provide support while upping the style factor. Mizuno’s Wave Catalyst will provide a similar ride.
The shoe feels light and flexible but check out the full-length foam and you’ll understand that speed feel doesn’t come at the expense of cushioning. The only question is: can it really produce what it suggests it will?
The Vazee Pace sits on a blown rubber outsole that’s nice and flexible thanks to the flex grooves, which help you maintain a nice natural gait.
Next, it’s on to the RevLite midsole, which catches your eye when you first look at the shoe. It’s a full-length foam unit that is responsive – springy even. All in all, it’s easy to see why this shoe has picked up a few awards for ‘shoe of the year’. Great weight (9oz), a competitive but easy to use 6mm heel to toe drop and a general feel good atmosphere create a fast shoe.
The upper is all about comfort and breathability. A smooth mesh wraps around your foot to keep it stabile while allowing it work through a natural range of motion. All the time, the thin synthetic material allows breathability and the lacing system also is fully customizable to help get a better fit. New Balance assure us the no-sew bootie means you can wear these shoes without socks, which if nothing else should tell you how soft and pliable they are.
If you’re the type of runner who likes to arm themselves with one pair of shoes for everything but has high demands – they must be cushioned but equally they must be light and ready to perform, well then meet the Vazee Pace v2. Perfect
How was the the Vazee for you? Let us know, we’d love to report your findings.
