First impressions
The Fujitrabuco Lyte is a shoe for runners wanting a lightweight trail shoe with excellent traction for fast workouts or for racing in.
It features a lightweight upper and cushioning courtesy of the brand's FLYTEFOAM™ midsole tech. The grippy outsole has been designed to offer security on a range of surfaces including wet rocks.
There's a 4mm drop to this shoe aimed at keeping you closer to the ground and more stable over uneven terrain.
Midsole
The shoe is lighter than before, in part due to the FLYTEFOAM™ midsole. It gives soft smooth cushioning which is highly flexible, an advantage when running across uneven terrain.
The shoe works well and will do the job for most but if you plan on using for mountain racing and need more protection, take a look at the brand's Gel-Fujitrabuco Sky model which features a hard midfoot plate.
Upper
The upper looks busy but it's all there for performance. The mesh is soft and comfortable, and covered in reinforcing patches to offer durability, structure and protection against the elements.
It also features a protective toe bumper and a heel tab to make pulling on easier.
Sole
The brand's multi-directional lugged outsole, ASICSGRIP™, delivers outstanging grip on a wide range of surfaces including wet, slippy stones and rocks.
Conclusion
A very good shoe for those who need a light trail shoe. The flytefoam makes for a flexible and soft ride. The shoe also features a comfortable and protective upper, and excellent grip from the outsole. Good for most trail races. If you need a shoe for longer adventure racing, you might be better off looking for soming a little beefier.
